ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY
Doina Rotaru was born in Bucharest, Romania on 14 September 1951.
Studies: She studied at the Music Academy Bucharest (1970-1975).
Grant for composition Amsterdam 1991. Lectures about her music in Darmstadt
(Summer Courses for New Music 1992, 1994) International Composers' Workshop
Gaudeamus Amsterdam 1990, 1992, Huddersfield, Brighton, Tokyo (1998, 2001).
She is professor of composition at the Music Academy in Bucharest. She
was awarded prizes from the Romanian Composers' Association in 1981, 1986,
1989, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 2001 and from Romanian Academy in 1996.
The I-st prize of the International Competition for Composers GEDOK Mannheim
1994. Her works have been performed in Romania as well as in Amsterdam,
Australia, Berlin, Bremen, Brighton, Canada, Caen, Darmstadt, Edinburg,
Graz, The Hague, Hiroshima, Huddersfield, Hong-Kong, Lausanne, Liege,
Paris, Roma, Stocholm, Tokio, Utrecht, Zurich, Warsaw, Wien...
