STUDIES:
1975 – National University of Music in Bucharest (composition: Dan Constantinescu and Myriam Marbe, musical forms and analyses: Ştefan Niculescu, harmony: Mircea Chiriac, conterpoint: Liviu Comes, instrumentation: Aurel Stroe, orchestration: Nicolae Beloiu, piano: Aurora Ienei).
Postgraduate studies:
1980 – Fellowship ofered by the "Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik" – Darmstadt, Germany (composition and musical analyses:Brian Ferneyhough, Gerard Grisey, T. Murail, W. Rihm, H. P. Haller, W. Kotonski, T. Murail and others).
1995 – Fellowship ofered by the Swedish Institut at the Göteborg Music Academy .

2002 – 2003 – President of the Romanian section of the ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music).
1995 – 2002 – Director of the Contemporary Music Information Centre.
Founder and chief editor of the "Contemporary Music – Romanian Newsletter" – the first English newsletter of the ISCM – Romanian section.
2002 – Co-organiser of the international festival "Listen and you'll understand " realized with the French Institut in Bucharest.
1992 – Musical Director of the Alternative Group.
